Our daughter, husband and family have moved to a tiny English village near us. Here the children attend a little two roomed school and the family have been absorbed into a life in England where time seems to have stood still. In the village families have lived for generations and many of the villagers are related to each other. Everyone knows everyone else and when there is an event of any kind in the village everyone attends. It is impossible not to feel at home or part of the community. So

Overview In a market saturated with Hoodia Gordonii containing products, Powerslim certainly stands out from the rest. Although it is somewhat hard to find on the internet, the Powerslim official website is very comprehensive and informative. The company that makes the product is Hoodia Products, a U.S. based firm that is headed by Kedric Van de Carr and Jacob Mullins. Both men seem very involved in the whole manufacturing process and there are photos on the site that show them with the bushme

Let me go back to my previous discussion about Chinese Black Bean, Hoisin, and Oyster Sauces and Indonesian Kecap Manis. I had a lot of sauce leftover from making Steamed Oysters with Black Bean and Scallion Sauce so I made Mi Xao Don Chay (Vietnamese Vegetarian Crispy Chow Mein) that I had brought to my cousins' July 4th barbecue. This was a little bland for some people, so I doubled up on the amount of black bean sauce. Don't worry carnivores, I've got a beefy version too. Mi Xao Don Chay (V

Since when have bigoted statements been acceptable arguments against anything ? Sea Shepherd founder Paul Watson called the mourners of the crew of the L’Acadien II “cigarette smoking apes“, Brigitte Bardot was convicted numerous times for her racist rants and their supporters post whatever comes to their minds, without any reservations, on blogs, message boards and media website comment boards. I’ve also seen people being harassed on Youtube simply because they were Japanese, Inuit or Norw

Girls must first determine what it is that they want to accomplish through bodybuilding before they begin any program. Then they need to establish realistic weight training goals. Often, girls approach bodybuilding just to control their weight, while others want to firm up and get sculpted. A desire to excel in athletic activities also drives some of the girls to the gym. Deciding which category you are in is critical to choosing the right program. Source:Body Building For Girls - Starting Out

There was a time in my life where I was what some would call a vegetarian. I did not any red meat or pork. The chicken was a very rare sight on my plate, but I did eat fish. At the time I was living in the midwest and the big thing there was fish. Every Friday there was a fish fry somewhere… Anyway, my journey to my beef-free life began after watching a documentary about the beef industry. They showed me a little too much, including how the cows died etc, and it was really traumatizing to me.

OK, what we really had for dinner was the last pickings of bison rotini, but I already told you about that. And W ate most of it, because we were still full from lunch; A came over and we sat out in folding chairs in the yard and drank cold pink fizzy wine and ate pad Thai, and that’s far more interesting. I had promised to make it, and then when I went to soak my rice noodles I discovered I didn’t have any. I suppose my mission to deplete a seemingly bottomless stash of assorted pasta and n

the case at Bonobo's   I had a deep need to eat healthy at lunch today, no doubt fueled by the gross intake of candy and peppermint bark that had occurred only moments before at an appointment (a holiday preview).  Bonobo’s Vegetarian, on a charmless stretch of 23rd street just across from the park, beckoned.  I had heard about it from a photographer at work, who raved about the coconut chai.  I’m not a vegetarian, nor am I an impressively healthy eater.  But I am intrigued by the idea th

I’m definitely going to have to get a copy of the Veg News music edition featuring songstress Erykah Badu, or try to find a transcript of the article online.  Unfortunately the only snippets that have been released on the internet are Ms. Badu defending her decision to have a third child by her third baby daddy. I’m not even going there… On another note, she’s a vegetarian. Yay!! Via Bossip Posted by jen

Day 12 Ahhhh….BEEF! Filed under: Demarle, Recipes — by suburbanmomcooks @ 4:44 am Tags: beef, broccoli, vegetarian I’ve tried to be a vegetarian. Really. My acupuncturist told me not to do it. When I met my husband he was a vegan, (unless you were serving him dessert) but he’s not anymore. I love beef. Practically raw, nicely warmed up, tender, juicy beef. Hmmmm…. Tonight we had a beautiful grass fed (no grain, not even in the weeks before slaughter) rib eye. I roasted broccoli on my Silpa

Today Jason and I went to my favorite Japanese Market and we got all kinds of goodies. We had a simple asian dinner with boiled edamame pods, miso soup with nori, brown rice to go with the rice, and kimchi. It was really good but I was still in the mood for asian food. So I came up with these bentos for Jason and I tomorrow. Unfortunately we won’t be able to have lunch together tomorrow, but at least we’ll both have similar meals! I made some carrot and avocado sushi and put a little container

Gene Pool, New York City's "Can Man." He also has an outfit of plastic bottles and cutlery. His fashion mission is to make us aware of our wasteful way of living. A couple of weeks ago at the Farmers Market I walked by a leafleteer. I don’t know what group, but the heading said something like, “You can’t eat meat and be an environmentalist.” I didn’t take one, so I don’t know the context, but it did get me thinking. My first thought was, gee, Wendell Berry isn’t an environmental
